Nancy Eileen Sharpless
June 29, 1936 - October 2, 2022
Nancy 'Nan' Eileen Sharpless, 86, of Malvern, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Echo Lake Senior Living.
Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on June 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Norman Henry and Ruth Ana (Wenger) Sharpless. After graduating from Kennett High School, Nan received her Nursing Degree from Abington Nursing School, becoming a certified Critical Care Nurse. Most of her nursing career was spent caring for patients and their families at Bryn Mawr and Paoli Memorial Hospitals. Nan was an avid, award-winning runner. She did not start running until age 40 and after 50 she completed two Philadelphia Marathons. It is an understatement to say that her running "family' meant the world to her.
Surviving is her son Michael (Mikey) Sharpless of Tucson, AZ, her nieces Amy Havice and Joy Santor, her nephews Robert Wallace and Jeffery Sharpless of La Mesa, CA, Brother-in-Law Hobert Wallace, Sister-in-Law Joan Sharpless and Patricia Ann Sharpless, her goddaughter Katie and her "other son" David. In addition, she is survived by people who made her life a joy, especially Rosalind Giancola, Joyce Kleiber and Ann and Roger Gardner. And most of all, Janie Hadfield. Nan always said Janie is getting a big house in heaven for all her friendship in sickness and in health.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Eleanor and Norma and her brothers Kenneth, Wayne, and Jeff.
A celebration of Nan's life will be held near her birthday in June 2023. The formal date/time announcement will be made on her Facebook page and by other means.
Interment in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nans memory to American Friends Service Committee (Quakers) or the charity of your choice. Nan liked helping anyone in need.
